Known for his colloquial style, Punjabi pop singer Mika Singh exhibits his otherwise smothered sense of humour. In a friendly banter on the sets of a singing reality show, Mika left everyone in splits as he pointed out how Bappida’s love for gold or any form of jewellary is well reflected in his musical compositions as well.
Justifying the same, Mika sang out a list of Bappi’s popular numbers such as Mujhe nau lakha wala de re (referring to a gem studded gold necklace), Pag ghunghuroo bandh meera nachi re, Gori hai kalahiyan, Yaar bina chain kahan re…sona nahi chandi nahi yar toh mile, etc.
Well, Mika’s keen observation not only convinced the audiences but Bappida too, who was tickled pink by this tongue in cheek remark. Surprisingly, Bappi himself had never realised this coincidence before Mika pointed it out.
The song is from my film Mitti called “Ni Mera Dil Tere Naina”

Sydney: On August 15, singer Mika Singh created a new record by being the only Indian to sing in front of 25,000 people at the Sydney Olympic stadium in Australia.
The crowd consisted of Indians, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis and local Australians from cities near Sydney.
This was Mika‘s solo performance for the special Indian Independence Day celebrations in the country.

Mika was overwhelmed with the response to his hit numbers that included ‘Ae Ganpat’, ‘Dil mein baji guitar’, ‘Mauja he mauja’, ‘Ibn-e-Batuta’, ‘Tell me Something’ and his latest hit ‘Apni Toh Jaise Taise’.
Mika said, “It’s great to receive so much love from so many people and I am very touched to see them turn out in such large numbers to hear me sing. I am so glad that I could make them enjoy their evening and go back home with a smile on their faces! It’s not everyday that one gets such an amazing crowd to sing to and I hope to repeat this in India soon.”
